I read it...I read Fifty Shades of Grey

Jamie Dornan ∞ (@JamieDornan4eva), Christian Trevelyan Grey

I promised myself ten times over that I would never read Fifty Shades of Grey, but dang pop culture!

Title: Fifty Shades of Grey
Author: EL James
Stars: 3/5
Genre: Erotic Romance
Published: 2011

My review: (A bit long, but 100% honest)
Ok, the more I have been thinking about it, the more that I need to express my thoughts.
I started this as a source for my research paper on romantic literature through the ages. So, I was really dreading reading this because I heard so much crap about it. In fact, I was ant-Fifty Shades up until like two weeks ago. I swore I would never read it and I swore that I would hate it if I did.
The truth is, it wasn't that bad. Yes, the writing was pretty bad. Christian was a major jerk. Ana had no back bone. There was too much smut, not enough resolution. I laughed my way through the first 100 pages. It was silly! Besides all that, it was a fairly decent book. I think the plot was good, but there wasn't enough development of it per say.

Christian Grey, how you piss me off so. I hated him from the beginning. He was an arrogant...um man. Trying to keep this review PG. I knew from the beginning that he was a slim ball. Then he became more unlikable. Showing up at Ana's apartment after graduation uninvited and then...punishing her...Dude lay off. Then he followed her to Georgia after she told him she needed space. This man needs therapy of some kind. When he took her gliding, I started warming up to him. I was like aw and then he messed up. DANG THE BELT. I know that he has problems though, so I'll try not to bash him so hard. Honestly, he creeped me out hard core.

Anastasia Steele: Brainless, so over the top blind to Mr. Grey. She was a weak character and I was hoping for some character growth, but there was none. She sounded like me in the beginning: book nerd, hopeless romantic, and same career moves. That's where the similarities end. Her relationship with Grey was disgraceful because he never respected her. She was weak in his hands, so blind to his demons. This upset me because she was so careless. I'm glad she left him at the end, but we all know that she doesn't really.

Also, stop with the formalities. "Sir" "Mr" "Miss". We all know that it's creepy, yeah?

Nonetheless, I will continue with the series because it grew on me. I know, shocking!

Also...Mr. Grey isn't so bad looking...

"The First Son's Spy

So...I wrote this back in the fall and recently finished with light edits and revision. Currently it is on Wattpad (unedited). My UN is @MaddiMellark.

Here's a brief premise of my story!

Meet Piper Hale, spy of the first son.
Sterling is unaware of the girl that is his personal spy. Piper knows everything about Sterling, but she can't reveal herself to him. It is the summer before college and Piper tries to keep herself undercover until it's time for Sterling to move into Yale University. Sterling assumes that Piper is just the chef's daughter. He knows that he shouldn't feel the way he does about a girl from a different world. Especially a girl who works for his father. Both unable to deny their feelings, they fall into a summer full of love, betrayal, and loss. Can Piper and Sterling survive everything that is trying to pull them apart, especially a threatening student at Yale that is willing to do anything to ruin Sterling's perfect reputation?

Book Review: Losing the Ice

Title: Losing the Ice
Author: Jennifer Comeaux

Pages: about 108
Recieved: ARC from the author

Published: February 23
Stars: 4.5/5

When they take the ice for their first competition, they want to show everyone, especially Josh's family, they are the perfect pair. But ice is slippery, and one misstep puts all their dreams in jeopardy. Now they must show each other both their love and their partnership are strong enough to survive.

My review:
*WAS GIVEN ARC FOR EXCHANGE OF HONEST OPINION*
There's a lot I can say but it would mostly be me gushing.
I first picked up Life on the Edge my junior year of high school; I was going through a romance genre phase. Well, I fell in love with Comeaux's writing and characters. So, I kept up with the series. Fortunately, two years later and I am still loving the romance genre.
I can't remember much of "Crossing the Ice" but I remembered how much I swooned over Josh. Again, I swooned over him in "Losing the Ice". Courtney is so full of sass, which I greatly appreciate. Their relationship made me so happy and I cannot tell you enough how much I adored the book. Sure there were parts were I was frustrated with Josh, but he still won me over.
I hated Josh's parents so bad. He doesn't deserve to have such wicked parents because he's so sweet. Stephanie won me over in this book too.
I am trying so hard to not post spoilers!
Comeaux's romance writing is my personal romance writing goals. Her writing is so lyrical and beautiful. I also love the fact that while it is NA, she doesn't over-do it with sexytimes. Although, it does get a little heated. ;p
I cannot wait for the third book of the series and any other series that she writes. I am definitely a fan! Keep up with your writing because your romances are just perfect!
My only problem with this book was that it was too short. I want more Josh and Court! But we'll be getting more of them, so yay!
A must read for romance lovers.
Also, be prepared to cry....

Book Review: Under the Spotlight

Under the Spotlight (The Jamieson Collection #3)

Title: Under the Spotlight
Author: Angie Stanton
Genre: YA Contemporary
Pages: 400
Recieved: ARC-HarperCollins
Format: Kindle ebook
Published: May 5, 2015
Stars: 4.5/5

Book Description:
After an embarrassing stint on a reality-TV music competition years ago, Riley vowed never to sing again. Now she's behind the scenes, working at the prestigious Sound Sync recording studio, and life is looking up. But then Garrett Jamieson, the oldest brother in the famous Jamieson brothers band, crashes into her world.

Garrett has hit rock bottom, and he is desperate to reinvent himself. After calling in a few favors, he ends up working at Sound Sync to learn the ropes of record producing from the industry's best. And he can't believe his luck when he discovers that Riley has been keeping a secret—she is an amazing singer. By producing her album, he's sure to top the record charts again. But Garrett is forced to use every trick in his arsenal to persuade the sassy girl to record.

Riley refuses to sing—or even entertain the thought of it—and sparks fly as Garrett finally meets his match. But in the heat of the moment, one stolen kiss changes everything. Will Riley be the first person to finally rein Garrett in, or will Garrett succeed in getting Riley back under the spotlight?

My Thoughts:
I have so many feels after reading this book. I started it at midnight last night and then eventually had to go to bed at like three AM. Thankfully, school was cancelled for snow day so I could finish this book.
Riley was a spit fire and I loved her girl power. She isn't one of those girls who fawns over the hot celebrity which I applaud. Her head was in limbo and no wonder why. Her mom is freaking nuts and I hated her guts. Good for Riley that she is making a name for herself. The banter between her and Garrett made me smile. She was not about to let him push her around. I am so happy she got over her fear of singing-she deserved the break.
Garrett is the typical "troubled rock star". His band broke up, and yah that sucks, but he needed to move on. He was a total jerk in the beginning and I loved how Riley put him in place. I will say that he is a great, hot  book boyfriend. I am super glad he found his footing at the end of the novel. You could definitely see the character growth for him.
Overall, this book left me with the warm fuzzies. It was a perfect book to read while I watched 2 feet of snow come down. There were some things that were a bit unbelievable but that would include me spoiling the book, so I'll stay quiet. I do wish their were more romance scenes because I felt kind of jipped. The ending felt a bit rush and I could see another book being written about them. It didn't seem to be a complete ending. Otherwise, it was a fun, quick read. I laughed and I cried. Whenever a book makes me do both, I call that a success. So, I applaud Ms. Stanton for this book. So glad we saw Garrett's story instead of him as a background character. Probably my favorite Jamieson novel.
A recommended read! :)
Also, so much cover love.

My January Reads

This year my blogging goal is to create a "month reads". So, I will be listing all the books I have read during each month.
I now present you with my January reads!

1. Half Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My thoughts:

I started this book because I love this author's writing. Her Lux series is one of my favorite series, but this was just okay. I will still continue on with the series because first book syndrome. JLA writes some awesome romance though and I am rooting for Aidan. I hate Seth. Ugh that boy....
Anyway, I can't wait to see how the series progresses. I hear it gets a lot better so, I am excited for more Alex and Aiden. And as much as I dislike Seth, I enjoy Alex and his banter.

2. Accidential Rock Star by Emily Evans

My Thoughts:

You know I am a sucker for all things Hollywood romance. So, if you like that genre, then I suggest you read all of Emily Evans books.
Cute, short read.

3. City Love by Susanne Colasanti
My Thoughts:
See my thoughts below on full review of the book.

4. Dating Trouble by Anna Katmore
so far my least favorite of the series but still an enjoyable read. I read it in 2 days.
Susan was like me, besides the hot guy pursuing her. sigh.
Chris was an asshole, but never the less, he was charming. :p
would I recommend? yessss and the other books in this series.

The Perfect OTP's Ever: Top 3

As I am trying to not think about a writing deadline, I decided to come up with my all time favorite OTPs. Not limited to books. It was quite difficult to just keep it to 3 OTPs. Seriously, that's like some crazy math problem I can never solve. Alas! I did it!

1. Corey and Topanga (Boy Meets World)
After I binged watched Boy Meets World last year, I keep re-watching it because of Corey and Topanga's relationship. Sure, I found it a little unbelievable at times, but everything about their relationship was real. They fought; they cheated on one another; they got on each others nerves. Through that, they managed to plow through the obstacles. They loved each other- and every time they are on screen, I scream "I NEED A RELATIONSHIP LIKE THAT!"
Who Is Your “Boy Meets World” Soulmate? I got Cory Matthews...but I'm pretty sure Shawn and I are soul mates @raven_griffin3

2. Peeta and Katniss (Duh) (Hunger Games)
There's not much to say about them besides that they are my all time favorite OTP. They went through so much together. Literally, they survived together. Even when Katniss was awful to Peeta, he cared too much about her to let her go because he knew Katniss cared about him too. In Mockingjay, we saw that Katniss really loved Peeta despite her mixed feelings. Sure they had to go through the manipulations of the Capitol to realize their love, but once they did, I was one happy teenager. I cried so hard during their scenes because Peeta is so romantic. Find me a Peeta please.

I still can’t process this. There’s just so much love that Peeta has for Katniss and I don’t think any gif shows it more than this one

3. Tobias and Tris (Divergent)
While these two had a rocky start, once they confessed their true feelings, electricity was in the air. Seriously, though. Tris's love for Tobias woke him up from the simulation. If that isn't love, I don't know what is. Plus, Tobias was there for Tris when she needed him. Her brother betrayed her; her mom and dad died; Tobias was the one who gave her a shoulder to cry on. They were angtsy with each other at times, but that's what relationships are about. Not everything can be fun and perfect. They were in a war torn era. (SPOILER) Tobias's reaction to Tris dying showed just how much he loved her. So much that it physically broke him. Ps, Veronica, I will never forgive you for breaking my OTP.
.All the ways that Divergent is a total rip-off of Hunger Games and Harry Potter!
